What you need :
- A square piece of waterproof fabric 50x50cm (e.g. oilcloth)
- A square piece of thick fabric (jeans) 50x50cm
- A band of fabric 2m long and 2cm wide.
Making the paraqua :
1° Cut the 50cm squares , one in a waterproof and washable material (to protect you from the ground humidity and from dirt), the other in a thick fabric.
2° Sew, face against face on three sides so as to make a bag. Oversew the top and cut with pinking scissors.
Before you turn the bag inside out cut the corners so as to make them look nice.
3° On each side sew a band of fabric of 1cm and leave 50cm for the lace that yoiu will use as a belt to attach it around your waist.
Hints : Make your paraqua more personal by choosing fabric th ecolour of your patrol for example.
Other uses :
If it’s raining you can use the paraqua as a hat.
At night the paraqua can be used as a pillow if you fill it with your clothes well in order.
At camp it can be used as a bag to carry some wood. Attach the two laces tightly together to make a handle.
To sit : make sure the waterproof side is always against the floor !
It can also make a nice apron
